202 | Monday, October 10, 2016600 Memphis Students Take Manufacturing Day ToursSix-hundred students from Shelby County Schools toured local manufacturing companies on Friday, Oct. 7, to explore advanced manufacturing careers in Memphis.Students from 12 high schools participated in the National Manufacturing Day event, with each school touring a different facility, including Steel Warehouse, Gibson Guitar, Flextronics, Barnhart Crane, Competition Cams, Jordan Aluminum, Mitsubishi Electric Power Products, Smith & Nephew, National Guard Products, SFI of Tennessee, Coca-Cola and Medtronic.On the tours, students received information on possible careers within the industry and the education needed to get there.
